Simple Carpet Cleaning Tips To Give You Truly Professional Results

• Thoroughly pre vacuum the carpet or upholstery you are cleaning prior to pre spraying it. This removes the compacted dry soil and gives a deeper clean. For optimal results we would recommend hiring our Kirby deep cleaning system package, which has been proven to remove deeply embedded soil, skin and dust mite carcasses more effectively than other cleaning systems.

• Do not use more solution than is recommended on the packaging. More is not best. Following the exact measurements on the packaging will give you superior results. It is better to use less than more. Excessive product just builds up residues in the carpet which makes the whole job harder and less effective.

• Pre spray the carpet using the spray applicator and our micro splitting product on the heavy traffic areas and any areas where there are spots and stains.

• Always use the carpet brush to brush in and agitate the pre spray, this helps to break down the soil particulates. Once you have brushed the pre spray in leave for 5 mins to allow it to work its way deep into the carpet fibres. You should also pre spray upholstery and use a stiff brush to work it in before using the spray extraction machine.

• On carpets that have dog urine or other nasty smells it would be advisable to treat the carpet with a deodoriser. This can be added to the solution tank when you begin the spray extraction process after the pre spray phase. Don’t forget to order deodoriser with your package if you require it.

• Using hot water in the spray extraction machine gives the very best cleaning results. The spray extraction machine will still clean with cold water but always use hot water where possible for optimal carpet cleaning results.

• When using the spray extraction machine always make 3 dry passes to thoroughly remove all solution (without pulling the trigger on the wand)to every 1 pass where  you are spraying cleaning solution down . You can also use the wand backwards and forwards when you are spraying but should always pull it backwards when you make dry passes. This removes the moisture more effectively, thereby reducing drying times.

• Always work backwards when using the spray extraction machine to avoid you walking over areas which have been cleaned. It is advisable to wear the little blue over-shoe booty’s provided in your package to ensure you do not bring any new dirt onto the cleaned items.

• For optimal cleaning results and to ensure your carpets stay cleaner for longer always rinse the carpet thoroughly. This can be done very easily by using the spray extraction machine in the same way you did when cleaning, using just water in the solution tank thereby rinsing solution residues from the carpet which will prevent your carpets from re-soiling so quickly.

• Driers should be positioned so that they blow along the entire length of the room. It is always best to dry the carpet in strips, very much like mowing a lawn. Check that the strip of carpet is dry before moving the drier along to the next strip. The carpet driers are very powerful and it is advisable to remove all breakables form walls and window sills. Always open all the windows in the room you are drying for maximum ventilation, this will speed up drying times.

• Protection treatments should be applied directly to the damp carpet after the rinsing process and before the drying process. This will ensure that when you dry the carpet all treatments have been carried out and you can then use the room immediately. Do not use more protection treatment than is recommended.
